Almost immediately, odd things start happening Then the power grid outside the classroom begins kicking on while they are in class. A power grid from a supposedly shut-down power station. Bob has his students keep journals in which they are to record their dreams for discussion in class. Dreams begin linking the classmates to one another, and they start dreaming of terrorist attacks about to happen.

Bob brings in a doctor to study the class when he starts to believe they might be experiencing some kind of phenomena. Bob ends up in a situation testing the accuracy of one of the dreams There are terrorists on American soil. After 3 American historical markers are disfigured by a strange new technology, the Phelps are not sure what to believe. Is this a parlor trick or has the middle east come up with a new technology? When the first 2 landmarks were defaced, the pieces of the monuments are found out in the desert, in the same proximity from the original statue.

To some this looks like an act of God. All the while, Homeland Security is feeding the media lies to keep the general public from getting too upset. The book really puts the media into perspective. I highly recommend to all who enjoy mysteries. The storyline follows Bob Phelps, an out of work man who starts up a critical thinking class.

Robert Rupp spins an interesting tale that puts much emphasis on the massive cover-ups that go on in the United States on a regular basis. In an effort to keep a lid on widespread chaos, Homeland Security puts some spin on incidents to make them appear not to be terrorist attacks. The book takes place in a modern day setting, at the beginning of the third World War.

As the story unfolds, the incidents lead to Homeland Security putting Bob and hid wife, Darlene to work. It appears to the world that the end times are near. Terrorists have figured out a way to cause mass chaos in the United States, damaging historical monuments with what some think is God, while some think it is a parlor trick. When the president faces real danger, Bob and Darlene are on the case. I had such a hard time putting this book down. I would love to see a sequel. Paranormal futurist thriller fans rejoice! Rupp's 'Slave Dog Journals' is the tale of everyman Bob Phelps, a downsized computer programmer from Detroit teaching a night school course on critical thinking.

Things get more than critical soon enough, however, and Bob finds himself in an almost unbelievable drama involving terrorists, the President of the United States, and a group of ordinary students who are anything but. Bob and his motley crew race to save the nation while the plot unfolds One person found this helpful. I get the beginning of the plot, I get the development, and then the author never explains the chalkboard writings, the power company sub station, the mystery tv station and all the dream sequences. There is no plot development. Great Read. Slave Dog Journals by Robert A.

Rupp is a page 1st person, present tense novel.

As a teen in Beverly Hills , he often visited his mentor and friend science-fiction writer Bob Olsen , sharing ideas and maintaining contact. In , at a secondhand bookstore in Hollywood , Bradbury discovered a handbill promoting meetings of the Los Angeles Science Fiction Society. Bradbury cited H. Bradbury identified with Verne, saying, "He believes the human being is in a strange situation in a very strange world, and he believes that we can triumph by behaving morally".

Bradbury recalled, "He was well known, and he wrote humanistic science fiction, which influenced me to dare to be human instead of mechanical.
